Ngadjuri - Eden Valley

Organically grown Pinot Gris plus a chaos roster of old-vine whites and muscat co-plantings - Alexandria, Petits Grains, Chenin, Riesling, and whatever else was still standing in this beautifully unruly field. Some hand-picked and de-stemmed, some crushed under bare feet. Long skin contact, no rush. Aromatics turned up loud: rosewater, white flowers and perfume. Textural, slippery, noisy. Seduction without boundary.

2023 Syrah
Kaurna (McLaren Vale)

Syrah planted at the winery door, basically in the shed. Organically grown, picked by hand, turned straight into wine - no ceremony. Zero oak just red fruits, plum skins, wild herbs, and a line of brightness. Deep but lean, savoury, cool-blooded, all wire and nerve. Goes down too easily. No flex. No gloss. A flick of whole bunch for lift, not theatre. Blewitt Springs. Deep sand. Boots optional.

Grenache
Kaurna (McLaren Vale)

Grenache on the hilltop (also at the winery door), front-row seat to the séance all year. Blewitt Springs fruit, the holy grail. Organically grown, handpicked, straight into tank without stopping to pray. No oak. No incense. Just patience. Strawberry with the tips on, red berries and a choir of cherry notes. White pepper reverb, and dust hanging after the show. Bright, chewy, tannins, tight and in harmony. Easy but dynamic. Light on its feet yet sharp at the edges. Clean cut, memorable, no encore.
